Marc G. Tarlow joined the Firm in August 2003 as a shareholder and a member of the Firm’s Litigation Department and Employment and Labor Law Group.
Mr. Tarlow’s practice includes a wide range of matters, focusing significantly on counseling employers in both union and nonunion environments on employment related matters as well as negotiating collective bargaining agreements. Mr. Tarlow’s counseling includes discrimination issues (such as Title VII and ADA), OFCCP (including Affirmative Action compliance), FMLA and FLSA, as well as the interplay between these issues and collective bargaining agreements. He has appeared before the NRLB, EEOC and corresponding state and local commissions, as well as federal court and has served as lead counsel in many complex labor arbitrations concerning contract interpretation (often with significant employer exposure and complexity) and employee discipline. Mr. Tarlow has provided advice and litigated common law employment issues such as non-competition/trade secret issues, wrongful discharge, interference with contractual relations, drug testing, privacy, employee handbooks and employment contracts.
In the course of his practice, Mr. Tarlow has conducted complex commercial litigation in various areas of the law. This includes complex and protracted litigation concerning environmental issues, antitrust issues, corporate control and governance issues, staff privilege issues for physicians and unfair trade practice issues.
Mr. Tarlow is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York, and before the United States Supreme Court, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania and Maryland. He is a member of the American and Pennsylvania Bar Associations and their respective Labor and Employment Sections.
Mr. Tarlow received his Juris Doctorate, Cum Laude, from Temple University School of Law, where he served as Associate Editor of the Temple Law Quarterly. He received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with special honors in History.
